Three illegal aliens were arrested Wednesday while working at a local restaurant construction site.

Victor Manuel Aldana Mora, 36, Leopoldo Castro-Diaz, 31, and Marion Alberto Diaz-Gunino, 22, were arrested by Urbana police on holders from Immigration and Customs Enforcement around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 at 1754 E. U.S. Route 36, Urbana.

"They were working on the crew building the new Sonic restaurant," said Lt. Garry Kimpel of the Urbana Police Division. "ICE contacted us to pick up one of the individuals and, while trying to locate him, we located three others determined to be illegals. We didn't actually get the person we were going after."

Tri-County Regional Jail records showed all three men were detained there overnight before being transferred to ICE custody on Thursday.

Kimpel said the three men were not charged locally, though they presented false identification to police.
