Arizona Governor Signs Bill Authorizing Border Fence

PHOENIX -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill into law that authorizes the construction of a fence along the state's portion of the U.S.-Mexico border, either with other states or by itself.

She signed the bill Thursday, but her spokesman, Matt Benson, declined to comment Friday on why she signed it or whether she plans to invoke the authority.

The bill does not specify a cost or make an appropriation but says the state would use donations, inmate labor and private contractors.

Brewer has asked President Barack Obama to extend a National Guard deployment along the border and for more substantial fences to block smugglers. Arizona is a major gateway for illegal immigrants and marijuana smuggling.

Too bad we cannot clone Jan Brewer. She would make a great presidential candidate. We would see some real immigration reform in the shape of tougher enforcement of immigration laws and a closed border.

I hope she gets this done without Obama flexing his muscles something needs to be done to keep these people from just coming here when ever they want to. BTW, I guess Calderon will have two heart attacks and a funny spell over this one. he wants his peasants to be able to get into the U.S. come hell or high water.

The UK and France are enforcing tough laws against illegal immigration and I hope the United States will soon follow those Countries, because a Country is unsafe with a door open for criminals to enter when ever they wants to and stay undocumented.

Hopefully this fence will be more deterring than the currant fence in which there are videos of illegals easily hopping. This fence needs to be triple layered with razor sharp barbed wire and electric shock. They shouldn't even bother and waste the money unless they are going to build a fence that will work.
