(Tuesday, April 27, 2010)

Del Rio, Texas – Early Saturday morning, a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Eagle Pass North Station arrested a convicted sex offender who twice has been deported from the United States.

An agent patrolling near the Rio Grande River, north of Eagle Pass, around 5 a.m. Saturday, encountered two men who subsequently admitted to having entered the country illegally. Records checks revealed that one of the men, a citizen of El Salvador, was convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child, after being arrested by the Hays County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office in 1990.

The subject was deported from the United States after being released from prison. He is currently in custody and faces a charge of re-entry after deportation as an aggravated felon.
