I haven't seen any other sources about this. Perhaps just another strategy from Slim Coleman and Emma. I just got this on my google alert. Why would he want to announce this?? Would only cause more marchers not to come today.

Tomorrow, May 1, is the anniversary of the massive immigration marches that have taken place over the last couple of years. While not even the Latino community is exactly sure how many will turn up yet again to walk in support of undocumented immigrants, it seems the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is not taking any chances.

Latina Lista has received word that officials of the Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago, which gave sanctuary to Elvira Arellano and now houses another undocumented immigrant, 27-year-old Flor Crisostomo, are bracing for the arrival of representatives from the US Marshall's office.

Rev. Walter Coleman of the Adalberto United Methodist Church told Latina Lista that he and his colleagues received word over the weekend from a credible government source that DHS had handed the case over to the U.S. Marshall's office so they can obtain and execute a warrant for Crisostomo's arrest.

Rev. Coleman says that this move by DHS is predictable as it seems to follow a pattern in which on the eve of a large mobilization like the May 1 marches, DHS makes a high-profile arrest. Unsure if DHS is trying to intimidate or reinforce their authority, Rev. Coleman says he and his colleagues intend to "stand firm" against whatever the government has in mind to do.

Rev. Coleman, along with members of the Familia Latina Unida/Sin Fronteras, plan to hold a noon time press conference today to answer questions about the DHS action.

As a special favor to Latina Lista, Rev. Coleman has released the following statement which will be read at the noon press conference:

We have called this press conference because we have been informed through what we believe to be reliable sources that Homeland Security has or is preparing to turn over the case of Flor Crisostomos to the U.S. Marshals. This, we have been informed, is being done so that the U.S. Marshals can get a warrant to enter this church and arrest her. This action by Homeland Security, on the eve of May 1st marches across the country follows the pattern they have adopted for the last three years. It is an effort to intimidate the community. It is also an effort, we have been informed, to stop the spread of the sanctuary movement that has gained support in churches throughout the nation. We stand with Flor. She has taken sanctuary to make America see that 12 million people will not self-deport and that the terrorizing of families and children and whole communities is senseless and inhuman. Flor has taken her stand to make America see that 12 million will not self-deport because they must feed their children – here and in the countries that this nation has devastated with its policies of so called free trade. We call on the President of the United States, in his last few months in office to recognize the will of the great majority of the people and call a moratorium on the raids, deportations and separation of families. We call on him to respect the sanctity of the church and the non-violent witness of civil disobedience against an unjust and broken law. We call on people to join us tomorrow at Union Park at 12 noon and march with us to Federal Plaza at 1:30 in a “March of Courageâ€

Hit this church with a LOSS of their Tax-FREE status!

Nothing else will stop these law breakers. Aiding and abetting it's called and hopefully punishable by incarceration ........... Lets Go Get 'em.

He really means, on the eve of a large mobilization like the May 1 marches, Liberals self victimize, add drama for the event and run to their friendly editorial reporters. The next sentence is a good example of victimization. Making the illegal alien out to be intimidated, instead of the fact that DHS is just enforcing the laws of the United States of America. The last part of the sentence is the best, they are going to "stand firm" and make all the drama and create all the victimization they can.

I really hope they get what they deserve and the whole rotten lot gets it for aiding, abetting and harboring an illegal alien.

Is this just a little Grandstanding by DHS ? Arrest , Deport . And let them straighten out Mexico . Call me "Stupid" but to me a Church harboring a Illegal known to break the law by just entering is not a Christian concern .
If we where Nazi's it would be different with my point of view . But America is not like the Nazi's , we don't kill people in cold blood . DHS has a job to do and they do it much like Bushco . Say this do that .
1. Build the Fence
2. Put troops on the border
3. Stop the Illegals
4. Depot Illegals
5. This is your job , do it

Hopefully DHS-ICE will surprise the so-called "Reverend" and arrest him, his Mexican Communist wife Emma Lozano AND Flor as well as the "assistant" pastor too. Now that would add a nice touch to the whole illegal alien national public tantrum and parades.

Reverend Coleman should be arrested along with illegal immigrant Flor!

Every single church in the nation that is guilty of aiding and abetting illegal immigrants should lose their tax exempt status, and the church's elders responsible for their actions need to be found guilty and jailed like anyone else accused of this crime.

They wish the US Marshals will raid the "church" more $$$$ and donations
will flow if it happens.

It would be great if this is true and ICE has decided to arrest Flor. I assume that if they are sending the US Marshall to get her, that means that once she's in custody her butt is on a plane and out of here maybe even faster than they got rid of Elvira since the US Marshall operates the JPATS program (Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation Service) which transports prisoners and criminal aliens.

As for Coleman's motives in announcing this, well, it could be a few.

No one particularly is interested in him, his wife, their "church" or their fugitive. What better way to get attention? He might also hope that such an announcement would enrage the "community" and bring more people out. He could even be trying to touch off an "incident" based on his vow to "stand firm" if they come for her, which implies that this will not occur quietly. Not surprising really since martyrdom seems to be a big deal in the cause.

Whatever the Feds decide to do, I hope they drag every last one of them out in handcuffs. It's time examples were made of those wishing to aid, abet, and harbor.
