ALBANY -- A 16-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico was sentenced Tuesday to 33 years in state prison in the brutal knifepoint rape in December of a University at Albany student and two separate burglaries.

Felipe Dejesus-Flores pleaded guilty previously to breaking into the young woman's home on Dec. 10, waking her from a sound sleep and then raping her.

He also admitted carrying out an earlier Aug. 5 burglary on Sherman Street in which he stole the kitchen knife he used to threaten his rape victim, prosecutors said.

In August, an Albany County grand jury handed up another burglary indictment, this time an attempted attack on Sheridan Avenue in which the youth cut himself on window glass and left DNA that was allegedly traced back to him.

Albany County Judge Stephen W. Herrick also sentenced Dejesus-Flores to eight years of post-release supervision.
