    Lou Dobbs March 9th

    Monday, March 09, 2009
The February jobs report was released Friday -- and the news, we're sad to say, was downright ugly. A total of 651,000 Americans lost their jobs last month, pushing the unemployment rate to a 25-year high of 8.1%. There's no denying that our economy has seen better days. We can only hope that the Obama administration doesn't exacerbate the pain with an overzealous agenda. Instead, this feels like a time for Washington to focus on the essentials: jobs and housing for the American people.

You can always count on Mr. Independent, Lou Dobbs, to talk about what really matters. And while you're at it, feel free to lend your voice to the national conversation.

Joining Lou in the Independent Nation on Monday will be Senator JEFF SESSIONS. The Alabama Republican will discuss the future of the E-Verify program and whether the Obama administration is trying to eliminate it from our system of immigration enforcement.

Dr. PAT CHOATE, the author of Dangerous Business: the Risks of Globalization for America, will take a hard look at the U.S. economy, the latest job numbers, and what it all means for America's middle class.

And how bad will things get before they finally get better? Lou will kick it around with ROBERT BARRO, professor of economics at Harvard.

As always, Lou will take your calls to discuss the issues that matter most-and to get your thoughts on the direction America is heading. Call him toll-free on the Independent Hotline at 877-55 DOBBS. (It's the best bargain in broadcasting.)

    # Joining Lou Tonight

    Senator Tom Coburn (R) Texas
The Senate voted overwhelmingly to preserve thousands of earmarks in a $410 billion spending bill. Voting on the bill is expected this evening. Sen. McCain noted the legislation includes 14 earmarks requested by lawmakers for projects sought by PMA Group, a lobbying company at the center of a federal corruption investigation. Sen. Coburn says he will seek to have them removed. He will join Lou, tonight.

Of course it was a good show as always. It is a shame so many Americans are losing jobs and at the same time the delegates want to add PORK to the bills they vote on. Just think of what can be done with that money they have wasted.

    Senator Tom Coburn was on

BUT HE IS AN OKLAHOMA Senator NOT Texas
