Lou Dobbs Tonight
Monday, April 21, 2008

Tonight, we’ll have the latest from the campaign trail, ahead
of tomorrow’s pivotal Democratic primary in Pennsylvania. Plus:

* Protesters are gathering in New Orleans where President Bush
and his counterparts from Canada and Mexico are set to hold
closed-door meetings on the North American Union. The
protesters object to the secrecy of the talks, and charge that
the meeting is controlled by multi-national corporations with
no legislative oversight — and threatens the sovereignty of the
United States.

* Gas prices are near $3.50 a gallon and expected to continue
rising as we enter the summer months. Today, the Consumer
Federation of America released its first quarterly report,
finding that consumers want more fuel-efficient cars and feel
that the auto manufacturers have not been quick to meet these
demands.

* A newly released study by the Migration Policy Institute
shows that nearly half of the Los Angeles County workforce is
foreign-born and one-third of Los Angeles adults are not
proficient in English. The report highlights the need for
public and private sectors to devote more attention to the
integration of immigrants into U.S. classrooms, workplaces and
civic life in order to stay competitive economically.
