TIJUANA, MEXICO - Eight Mexican soldiers are accused of trying to move nearly a ton of cocaine. Investigators in Mexico say the men had been working with a group of civilians to traffic drugs.

Prosecutors say the soldiers were arrested last week at a military checkpoint south of Tijuana, just across the border from San Diego.

There was no word on who the soldiers are.

The military had rarely been accused of working with drug cartels. There are currently thousands of soldiers fighting drug traffickers across Mexico.
