ROANOKE -- A Guatemalan native who admitted transporting illegal immigrants up Interstate 81 has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison.
Pedro Antonio Mateo was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Roanoke. He pleaded guilty in May to transporting illegal aliens.
In April, a Virginia State Police trooper stopped a sport utility vehicle on the interstate in Botetourt County and discovered a group of people inside.
Some of the passengers told investigators they'd traveled from Arizona and were headed to New Jersey and to other stops around the country.
U.S. District Judge Glen Conrad added two years of supervised release to Mateo's prison term.

GOOD! That's nearly two years that he won't be able to send money home! Didn't say if he's a legal immigrant or illegal alien. Hope the illegals were deported and if this man is illegal , that he will also be deported at the end of his jail term.

I HAVE SEEN VEHICLES STOPPED AT PUBLIC REST AREAS WHEN I AM TRAVELING WITH 10 TO 15 ILLEGAL CRIMINAL ALIENS.
ARE ICE AND STATE TROOPERS WATCHING THE ROADS CLOSE ENOUGH?

Well this is terrible! Time in jail means no more money for his mother's much needed operation, like the excuse many of the illegals and drug runners plead.
