Obama faces prospect of firm Dem opposition on immigration reform
By Alexander Bolton - 07/03/10 12:10 PM ET

President Barack Obama has blamed Republicans for standing in the way of immigration reform, but he may have to contend with deep misgivings from within his own ranks as he tries to revive reform legislation.

Fourteen sitting Democratic senators voted to filibuster the last comprehensive immigration reform bill Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) brought to the floor in June of 2007. Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, also voted against it.

Reid declared at an immigration rally in Las Vegas in April that he had 56 votes for comprehensive reform and needed just “a handful of Republicans.â€

The first 2 Amnesty attempts in 2006 & 2007 had serious flaws in them, at an era of time when regular Americans weren't fully aware of our diabolical members of Congress.

The 2006 Amnesty proposal would have awarded Social Security benefits to all of the millions of illegal aliens whole stole or invented SS numbers, even though this form of identity theft is considered a felony. The Senate also proposed that, since the vast majority of illegal aliens don't make enough of a yearly salary to be required to pay taxes, that these illegals should be awarded the Earned Income Credit!

The 2006 proposal also would have "Amnestied" the employers of illegal workers, even if these employers knew in advance that they were employing illegals!

The 2006 proposal would have penalized Amnesty applicants, and imposed a fine of $2000 or so for their original crime of illegal entry into the US. However, to make up for this, the proposed bill said that Amnesty applicants are required to pay taxes for only 3 of the past 5 years! Why can't regular Americans get this kind of a break on their taxes?

The 2007 proposal would have accidentally given legal status to criminals & gang members, because the Senate proposed that these applicants be given just a 24-hour background check, in order to quickly expedite several millions of Amnesty applicants. About the only thing officials can do in 24 hours is apply the rubber stamp.

The 2007 proposal said that, even for applicants who are members of gangs, that's okay. Just don't participate in any more mean gang activities! Officials would have honored the sworn word of gang members!

The 2006 & 2007 proposals made no attempt whatsoever to fix the 14th Amemdment. This is one of the most exploited, alluring, draws to the problem of illegal immigration, if not the most significant one. And no attempt was made to correct it.

The 2007 proposal would have increased border security by only 25%, according to NumbersUSA.com.

The 2007 proposal intentionally left-out mandatory use of E-Verify, which would have been a draw for future illegal entrants.

Both Amnesty proposals left open the possibility, and probability, of extended family members legally coming to America to join their newly legalized Amnesty applicants. It would be hard enough to legally process 20 million illegals, costing Trillions of dollars, but we would then have to process 40 million more of their family members. All at the expense of American taxpayers.

So now Obama is making a 3rd Amnesty attempt, and this is the worst era in time for it. Unemployment is still almost 10%, and we've already committed $1 Trillion on Universal Health Care. And the drug-wars at the Mexican border are raging out of control. Obama needs to secure the border before doing anything else.

    Deport all illegal aliens

AMERICANS DO NOT SUPPORT AMNESTY. THE POLITICIANS MUST STOP SUPPORTING AMNESTY. ALL ILLEGALS MUST BE DEPORTED NOW.

Well, there is a solution and it may very well be Bipartisan, but BO and our elected representatives won't listen to it.

    1. Give ANY ILLEGAL 30 days to Vacate. It seems to be working in Arizona with SB 1070 considering the Exodus now underway.

    2. After that, ANY ILLEGAL found here WILL be arrested and deported. (The numbers should be considerably lowered by then because "All those GOOD people who only wanted a better way of life for themselves and their families" certainly will have voluntarily left by then.)

    3. Make it perfectly clear that our laws WILL be enforced and there will be NO AMNESTY.

    NOW - THAT'S COMPREHENSIVE REFORM!
THAT'S WHAT I CALL MOVING FORWARD!

If the voters in Arizona put McCain back in the senate, then he will vote for Amnesty. Please, Arizona vote this frigging idiot out of office.
