PHOENIX -- Police took at least two suspected human smugglers into custody from an immigrant drop house in the West Valley Saturday.

Phoenix police Lt. Mike Rivera said a total of 11 people were taken from the house near 91st Avenue and Thomas Road around noon.

Rivera said all were adults and two of them were females. Reportedly two suspected human smugglers fled.

According to police, someone from the house was able to get out and ran to nearby Banner Estrella Hospital.

Someone at the hospital called police, and SWAT secured the neighborhood before going into the house.

Rivera said police were told there were weapons inside and officers found at least one shotgun and other "things" in the house.

There was no word on how long the suspected undocumented immigrants had been held in the home.
