Fla. legislator blasted for illegal immigrant joke

TALLAHASSEE -- A Panhandle lawmaker's tax-time joke about illegal immigration has drawn sharp protests from the Legislative Hispanic Caucus.

State Rep. Don Brown, R-DeFuniak Springs, recently sent a message to fellow representatives and House staff, saying, "Don't forget to pay your taxes ... 12 million illegal aliens are depending on you!" He later apologized for sending it.

Rep. Luis Garcia Jr., D-Miami Beach, the interim chairman of the Hispanic Caucus, sent a message of his own -- to Speaker Marco Rubio, R-Miami, saying he had heard several complaints from Hispanic members and Haitian constituents.
"This e-mail has no place in the Florida House," Garcia said.

State Rep. Rene Garcia, R-Hialeah, said that "the comments in this e-mail reflect an ignorance as to the founding of both this state and our country. It deeply saddens me that this mentality still exists in what we consider to be a forward-looking government."

Awwwwwwwwwww, what's the matter, can't the ones who feel slighted face the facts?

I'm also tired of this P.C. bullshine aside from the issues at hand. If they can't take the heat.............................

I thought it was quite funny. If they can't stand the heat,stay out of the kitchen Once again, do they understand the word ILLEGAL

The truth hurts, or should I say it hurts the American taxpayer and it has to stop!

Too bad Brown didn't have the backbone to stand behind his statement. It's certainly true. No apology was needed.

And just what is this supposed to mean? This fool is implying our country was founded by illegal immigrants. The only one ignorant here is Rene Garcia.

No she is implying it was founded by "Hispanic" illegal aliens, Some people just can't take a joke, even if it is the truth, But then we are not allowed to speak the truth any more it is not politically correct!!
