The Tucson Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol welcomed hundreds of men and women Tuesday who are interested in becoming Border Patrol agents.

The job fair was part of President Bush's plan to increase security along America's border. The President wants to hire some 6,000 additional agents by the end of 2008.

The event, held at sector headquarters drew men and women with different backgrounds.

Debb and Johnathan Crawford are Air Force veterans who are married with three children. The couple said they are looking for an adventurous career, "Being a vet I worked in health administration forever and this would be a different change of pace definitely," said Debb. Her husband Johnathan said, "I decided to come and check it out and see if I could be a candidate and it looks like I can do it so I applied today."

And for Ramon Wicks, the job seems like something he'd want to do, "I'm going to school in this field, I want to help people trying to do the right thing."

Supervisory Patrol Agent Jesus Rodriguez said the event was geared toward anyone with an interest in applying for a job protecting America's front line, and he encourages people with a passion for the outdoors, "There's never a dull moment when you're out in the field and are there dangers? Sure there are dangers just like in any law enforcement."

At the fair, agents showcased their horse patrol, all terrain vehicle units, and bicycle squad and swat team. The agency hoped to show potential recruits that agents are equipped with the tools they need to do their job. Also at the fair on display was a Chevy Monte Carlo featured in NASCAR that's sponsored by the U.S. Border Patrol. Rodriguez and members of the racing team say it's been a popular recruiting tool.
