Fatal Accident Claims 5 Lives In Mitchell County


A tragic accident in Mitchell County leaves 5 people dead, including a teacher from Enka High School. It happened Thursday morning in a sharp curve on Highway 226 near north of Spruce Pine. Troopers say a pickup truck from Marion was headed North when it collided with a sport utility vehicle going South. The driver of the SUV was a teacher from Enka High School. Jimmie Dotts was on his way to work. He was a career technical education instructor. Students at Enka were shocked and saddened by the news that their teacher was killed. Junior Justin Embler was sitting in Mr. Dotts' class waiting for him, when the announcement came over the loudspeaker.
"It was just silent. Everybody just stopped we just... it's like everything went still," he said.
The driver of the pick-up truck was Roberto Sixtos.* The other passengers names have not been released.
