    On a split vote, the Pender County Board of Commissioners on Monday rejected a Republican state Senate candidate’s request for a resolution against allowing illegal immigrants to attend the state’s community colleges.

    “During the recession, I think it’s inappropriate for us to be trying to educate illegal aliens to try to take jobs away from our legal residents,â€
