    (Brig Cabe/Examiner)
A crowd of mostly Hispanic individuals stands outside the Prince William County Adult Detention Center on Oct. 15 while the county board considered a resolution to deny services to illegal immigrants. Federal immigration officials have rejected a plan for a united illegal immigration crackdown in the county. Dec 12, 2007 3:00 AM (8 hrs ago) by Dan Genz, The Examiner

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Federal immigration officials have nixed an ambitious plan to join together three police forces and a sheriff’s department in a plan to screen illegal immigrants at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, forcing the applicants to apply again individually.

The decision by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement means the Prince William County Police Department’s plan to create a six-officer criminal illegal alien unit will be judged by itself and not with Manassas City and Manassas Park police and the Prince William Sheriff’s Department.

Is anyone getting the message that the federal government is only pretending the want these locals to enforce the law. They are dragging their feet, doing everything they can to see it doesn't get done.

At what point in time, are we going to admit to ourselves that the federal government does not, simply will not, enforce our immigration laws.

    trixie,

Hopefully more people see this, and will get mad enough to do something about it. As that is what it is going to take.

The fed's are nothing but liars, and thieves. Living high off the hog that we support. We have to rise up, take our responsibility and our unique place in history and do what needs to be done. Organize, petition, and stand with one voice and tell them NO MORE.

I know it's discouraging sometimes trixie, and sometimes I find myself thinking the same thing.....that they just don't really want to do anything.

But, as my husband pointed out, if they didn't, the programs simply wouldn't be available and/or no one would have them in place.

My own opinion is that ICE really didn't expect the demand they are seeing now so were not prepared for it which is causing some of the problems. I'd also imagine that they have to tread carefully because, as we all know, there are plenty of people out there watching every move like hawks just waiting for the chance to sue and bring the entire thing to a stop.

It's quite possible that the joint effort which was proposed may have not permitted the way the program is set up, or it could be a gray area they weren't sure about so decided not to take any risks.......it could be any other number of administrative things we just don't know about.

That's why it would be nice if we could find some outline of how the program works somewhere. This way we'd have a thorough understanding of requirements, restrictions, etc. and wouldn't get so easily discouraged with seeming setbacks.

    Chin up Trixie!!!!

The Census is coming up in 2010. Membership in the House of Represenatives will change with some states losing represenatives and others gaining. House representation is based on population not citizenship. Those states with high illegal populations will gain more seats in the house while those 'citizenship-based' states will lose seats.
It also changes the Electorial College and which state has more or less influence on electing a president-- The number of electoral votes of each state is the sum of its number of U.S. Senators (always two) and its U.S. Representatives; the District of Columbia has three electoral votes
By not enforcing the immigration laws, the federal government is giving the illegals more say and influence in the federal congressional government and election of the president and the citizens less voice.
