    ASHEVILLE — Most of the Buncombe County restaurant workers swept up in one of the mountains’ biggest immigration raids will have a chance to post bond, immigrants rights advocates said Thursday.

    That means nine of the 12 workers can be released after spending more than two days in a Henderson County jail and avoid being transferred to an out-of-state detention facility.

    But family and friends will have to go to Charlotte to post the bonds, which are $2,000 each, said Nikki Marin with the immigrants rights group Defensa Comunitaria. The fate of two detainees allowed bond is uncertain as they have no family here, Marin said.

    Advocates are criticizing the raid, saying it goes against a recently stated immigration enforcement policy to concentrate on dangerous criminals.

    “Although the Obama administration has publicly declared its intention to focus immigration enforcement resources only on individuals who pose a threat to public safety, yesterday's raid is proof that (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) continues to systematically attack families and terrorize community members through work place raids,â€
