American jobs......what is happening

There more i read the newpapers and watch the news, the more fustrated i become with events happening in our country and around the world.

I just recently got a new job at a parts manufacturing plant here in North Carolina. It has taken me since April to get a decent job. Thank goodness this one i have now came up. I can't even tell you how many applications I filled out, either by hand or online. I also have 2 different resumes depending on the job and many qualifications including but not limited to 2.5 years of college.

Another industrial plant in my town is laying of almost half of its 680 employees and are sending the work that was being done here to Mexico and parts of Asia. This pisses me off to no end.

There are so many hard working people in our society today who are having the hardest time finding and maintaining jobs because so many companies are shipping out to cheaper labor out of the country. How are people supposed to support themselves let alone a family?

Those who are working a job in my area tend to be illegal immigrants who are lying to the government about who they are. I have issues with that as well.

Is there anyone else out there who is seeing these kinds of problems or who have experianced it themselves? I curious to know exactly how big this kind of situation is.

I have a long commute, as I have to live in a poorer area than where I work. I try different routes, but keep seeing the same things. When I go through office building-type neighborhoods, or industrial, or warehouse, it's running a gauntlet of "for lease" "for rent" "available". Ditto in the residential neighborhoods, whether houses or apartments. Only the rich areas are doing ok, everyone else has obvious signs of economic rot. There are two vacant homes on my block.

My husband answered a FULL TIME job add for ACE hardware. Now we have FULL time job ads and PART time job adds. Anyway....he applied. Went filled out the application.....they called and wanted an interview at 2.00PM. He went. They said well......this is JUST a 15 hr a week job but we do need an ADULT in the store......problem is....there is a test to take and we've had so many applications that we ran out of the tests. So...please be so kind and come back tomorrow and we should have more here. My husband saw a STACK of already done tests that was atleast 5 in. high.....for a PART TIME...15 Hr A WEEK JOB at MINIMUM WAGE. OK.....he futzed around and came back when they told him to....AGAIN....they ran out....they were AMAZED at how many people showed up for this ADULT job opening...for 15 hrs a week. HUNDREDS....That is atleast for what was already filled out.....not counting those ...like my husband.....who were called and still waiting.


Worst part is....the TEST for this job?.......The window is wet. Would you ..#1 Ignore it #2 get tissues to wipe it off...#3 get the manager.

#2....With the wet window...if you chose tissues....#1 Would you use your own #2 grab the closest rag #3 grab a roll off the shelf?

#3...If you chose...grab a roll off the shelf.....would you assume #1 that you were stealing? #2 that even if your boss said it was OK that you might be stealing? #3 that you would buy it in order to do your job well?



My question......you are a 53 year old American citizen.

#1 would you be dumb enough to take this stipid test? #2 If you don't does that mean your a racist or a criminal? #3 This whole fiasco is a joke.

AT LEAST THEY DIDNT ASK IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WIPING OFF WINDOWS....LOL. I ONCE WENT TO AN INTERVIEW WHERE THEY ASKED ME IF I HAD EXPERIENCE FILING. I ALMOST LAUGHED IN HIS FACE. YES I KNOW THE ALPHABET.

IT CAN BE VERY DISCOURAGING TO GO TO A JOB INTERVIEW AND THE INTERVIEW PROCESS IS IDIOTIC. I USE TO THINK THOSE STUPID QUESTIONS WERE TRICK QUESTIONS DESIGNED WITH SOME HIGHER PURPOSE, BECAUSE HOW COULD ANYONE BE SO DUMB? BUT NO, THEY ARE JUST STUPID.

Ya know....I expect asking new people the basic questions....I find it a total insult to expect Adults to go through the same thing 1,000 times.

Seriously...I have taken tests to pick what our money is. If you don't KNOW that......they why do they place people in those positions?

I really resent being in my 50's and an American citizen having to take measurement tests that a second grader would. I KNOW what an INCH is. There's dummy down and then there's pure ass you don't know. Dugh?

They list layoffs each day! Yep, Jobs are leaving big time, and I check their page 4 times a week, and one gets really depressed after reading so many job losses and businesses shutting down, thanks to globalization!

We are doomed!

Well my wish for all of them is they go broke in their new country like the people there riot and picket for better wages, so in the long run they lose money because they have to ship the goods back to America, something will happen to them it is only a matter of time.

I honestly think this is why Bush is willing to help Mexico with crime and drugs, because the uU.S. companys that have moved there, I'll bet they already need our protection.

Remember about a month ago someone in Mexico blew up some kind of lines or something (can't remember) but it shut ford and some other American companys down for a few days. We need to fight the funding Bush want to help Mexico with crime!!!
