Bob Barr? The same Bob Barr who drafted the War on Drugs? Really, Bob? You find asking someone for ID during a lawful contact of reasonable suspicion of being in our country illegally "constitutionally troubling"? Yet, you wrote the code that allows police officers to raid homes on no-knock warrants and kill the occupants and/or their pets "looking for marijuana growing in the home"?

Really Bob? When did you get this epiphany? We need police powers in the War on Illegal Immigration which fortunately are reserved powers of states and the people under the Constitution and could not be more clear. We never needed police power for a War on Drugs, we just needed civil regulations, education, taxation and rehabilitation on demand for those who need or want it.

You were wrong on the War on Drugs and you're dead wrong on illegal immigration.

LOL. The "War on Drugs" is a war on ill people. Dont give em treatment, just throw em in jail. Yep...that worked well. Oh and dont treat the mentally ill...nope...let them self medicate ...and then throw them in jail. The war on suffering citizens must end and be replaced with the treatment they needed all along but have been denied. Enough lives have been destroyed.

And this same idiot dares to show his face publicly with such a failure under his belt? We need enforcement of the immigration laws that have ALWAYS existed. It is as simple as that.

Let's consider what just happened in NYC. A citizen saw something suspicious and reported it to local law enforcement. The police officer decided it was "reasonable suspicion" and followed up with an inspection of a bomb laden SUV. Now the police have "probable cause" a crime has been committed and start looking for a suspect.

If any police officer in the immediate area had observed anyone conducting themselves in a suspicious manner, that officer is allowed to briefly detain the resident and ask his name and inspect his identification papers.

If the resident has no papers, the officer is permitted to continued the resident's detention, provided it is still limited. Perhaps no more than four hours. This gives the officer the opportunity to finger print the resident and send his prints to the FBI and ICE. Now the federal authorities can determine his legal status. They may determine he is a legal resident and simply order his release. He could even be an illegal resident with no outstanding warrants and still be released. However, we now have his identity "in the system". If the federal authorities determine he's a violet criminal, or potentially dangerous, he may be "held for deportation.

The citizen discover a "dot" and reported it to local law enforcement, which, if reasonable should serve it up to the federal authorities, so it might be connected to other "dots". The connecting of the "dots" prevents crime and finds criminals.

If this scenario played out in NYC and it apprehended a terrorist, the authorities and the citizen would be heroes. However, in AZ the police are Nazis and the citizen is a racist.
