They’ve come from all over the world.

And if all goes as planned, to the world they soon shall return.

It’s been more than eight months since the Collier County Sheriff’s Office began its unique partnership with U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, bringing ICE officials into the county jail and allowing trained deputies to act as deportation agents.

Since June 1, 2007 — when the partnership officially began — through Feb. 13, there have been 359 illegal immigrants removed from the Collier County jail and taken into ICE custody for deportation proceedings, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

"parents live in fear"....yes, parents who violate our laws on a daily basis do live in fear of getting caught. That's their own fault and yes, sadly, children are always the ones who also have to face the consequences of the parents willful decisions to commit crimes, violate civil laws. The life of lawlessness doesnt end with the crossing of the border, it then involves the felonies of fraudulent documents/false identities, stealing of benefits under false pretenses, illegal employment, driving w/o licenses, and on and on. It's a life of crime and I'm sure like with any criminal activity it affects the children.

These parents decisions to violate our laws, and not our laws is what's causing the stress to their families. Give it up, get your affairs in order, and go home before you are forcibly deported in front of your children.
