Sending prisoners to Mexico to save money...so they can be let out when they are out of our control and start the whole thing over again and over again, he is a piece of work....okay someone please explain to my why this is a good thing????

Seeking a way to help alleviate his state’s chronic budget shortfall and prison overcrowding, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested on Monday sending illegal immigrant prisoners to Mexico to save money. The Republican governor apparently didn’t run his idea by some key administration officials before broaching it with reporters at the Sacramento Press Club.
Schwarzenegger said California could save about $1 billion a year if it built prisons in Mexico and then shipped those serving in state prisons who are undocumented felons to Mexico to finish out their sentences. Nearly 20,000 of the state’s 171,000 prisoners are illegal immigrants.

Matthew Cate, secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, was apparently unaware of the governor’s plan when asked about it by the media. Cate said the idea of shipping inmates south of the border was not something the department was considering at this time.

Even the governor’s own press secretary, Aaron McLear, backed away from the idea, saying Schwarzenegger’s comments were merely “a concept somebody mentioned to him.â€

"Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear said the governor as of now has no official plan to send prisoners to Mexico."

"It's an idea that people have mentioned to him," McLear said. "We need to spend less on prisons and more on higher education, and he thinks we ought to debate any creative solutions to do that."

Not a good idea, too easy for them to be let out and find their way here again. Be cheaper to build jails in and ship them to Guatemala or Haiti, think of all the job openings for the locals and much further away from our border.
