A Winston-Salem man pleaded guilty yesterday in Forsyth Superior Court to charges that he sexually abused a young girl, starting when she was seven-years-old.

Jesus Salas Morales, 38, of 4017 Dalton St., entered an Alford plea to seven counts of indecent liberties and one count of attempted first-degree rape. An Alford plea allows a defendant to plead guilty without acknowledging wrongdoing.

Judge Edwin Wilson Jr. consolidated the charges and sentenced Morales to about 15 to 19 years in prison.

Winston-Salem police started investigating Aug. 4, 2008, after getting a report about the girl being sexually abused.

Police charged Morales in November 2008 with the seven counts of indecent liberties as well as with first-degree rape.

Assistant District Attorney Kia Chavious said Morales started abusing the child when she was seven-years-old. The girl told authorities that Morales made her touch his genitals and that he raped her, Chavious said in court.

The girl said she was molested from ages 7 to 10, Chavious said. The abuse was reported after she told a cousin, Chavious said.

Morales made a statement to police saying that the sexual abuse was over a six-month period and that the girl initiated the sexual contact, Chavious said.

Stacey Rubain, Morales’ attorney, said Morales was taking medication for pancreatitis when he made those statements.

“He is very remorseful over this,â€

he should get the chair. jail is too good for him. if he gets out he will do it again.

I'm so glad this made a headline. I've been posting this all day. Please guys send this newspaper a complaint. If you read the article you'll notice they disable comments for illegal immigrant crimes as well as some of the crimes committed by blacks, but they do no such thing with white criminals.

What gets me ill is when they disable the commits the article gets buried faster because it wont show up under most commented, most viewed, most emailed.

The part with blacks bothers me because well the WSJ has always come off as racist. I have no problem with blacks in general, so I hope no one here will make an issue with this post, but I refuse to say things like African-American anymore, you are an American or you are something else, no more "blank"-American. I'm sick of it.

It is wrong for a paper to disable comments for any certain ethnic group while leaving them up for others.

The illegal immigrants crimes being swept under the rug is wrong on so many levels . The WSJ knows better and it burns me up to no end actually catching them in the act. I swear the liberal media as well as the government should get "sued" each time something like this happens, they are the ones responsible.

Remember now these are the same people suing Americans to aid and abet illegal immigrants.

I just can't believe how little a young girls life means to these politically correct, open borders crowd that they would try to make a front page headline such as this never see the front page! I have been calling and emailing as well as posting all over the web regarding this matter. It's just wrong, wrong wrong and I want an explanation!

I want to know why the put the pedophile first, I mean why would they "care" about an illegal immigrant pedophile?.
Why is this "not" front page, why are the comments disabled when it means that "less" people will see and know of this crime.

My god the taxpayers have to support this scum for at least 17-18 years!!! Which I guarantee you with the way they let Mexican nationals out of jail/prison for some reason or another as well as off the hook completely because some cop doesn't want to do the paper work or ICE doesn't want to pick them up an deport them. He will do less than 10 years. Read the article. He's sorry????? He's sorry????? He's been doing it for years and he's sorry!!! Sorry he got caught is all. Still this is a slap on the wrist for this kind of crime.

Bottom line he was never supposed to have been allowed in this country and it was "our" government that allowed it.

Dang I'm mad. Very very mad. My fingers hurt from typing for the last 12 hours, but I'm not letting up till something gets changed.

???? Oh really? That explains why he's in the country illegally and rapping a 7 year old girl.

These lawyers need to be charged with crimes against humanity.

If it were their job or their child....

If the illegal immigrants were taking lawyers, bankers, doctors, government officials jobs/livelihoods these people would never have made it past the border.
