Wal-Mart Regrets Exec's Comments on Health Care for Immigrants

Oops. Apparently Wal-Mart is not pleased with something one of its executives said about health care.

Wal-Mart recently announced its support for requiring large corporations to provide health insurance to their employees. But a Wal-Mart VP took things one step further last weekend while speaking on a health care panel at the annual conference of Latino group National Council of La Raza.

When asked the company’s position on health care for undocumented immigrants, John Agwunobi, who oversees Wal-Mart’s health and wellness business unit, responded, “We believe strongly that everyone should have access to affordable health insurance. Everyone.â€

I don't think our government is going to tell Wal-Mart to do anything they don't want to!
    They can squash us literally.
They own us like my mortgage company owns me.
They could jack up their prices or threaten to pull out...

If Wal-Mart would encourage border security, this would not be even a question. But profits, no matter how you get them, are first and foremost. Their prices are low, but the majority of their customers have carts full of anchor babies, with mom ready to drop another one.
Wal-Mart has been caught with their pants down a few times for hiring contractors that hire illegals. It is the company's responsibility to know who they are dealing with in their subs.
They have stores in Mexico underpricing local businesses like they do here and they have driven many out of business, just like they do here.

In a small town sometimes you simply have no choice but to go to Wal-mart once in a blue moon for the one item you need but can not get anywhere else for 50 miles. It had been almost a year since I last darkened their doors but it was the only place I could find a brand specific item on my sons school list. (yes, items on the list have to be the right brand or it isn't fair. But that is another topic)

Anyway, I was surprised by the prices at walmart. Most items I glanced at were substantially HIGHER than at the local shops I normally buy things from.

Not surprised by John Agwunobi comment in support of the ILLEGALS but I am surprised about wal-mart running from his Pro-ILLEGAL comment. Reminds me of a story I may have posted before concerning wal-mart and Mexican flags; about 5 or 6 years ago in Texas City, Texas and wal-mart had an enormous mexican flag hanging down from the ceiling about 50% larger than the United States Flag beside it. Once I found an employee who spoke English in complete sentences I ask her why the mexican flag was displayed in the Texas store? She just said several people have asked and directed me to a service center. I registered my protest and left, as far as know the mexican flag is still being celebrated and flying high in the Texas City, Texas Wal-mart. Of course it just may be a Texas or a Texas City PASSION.
