Fatal Wreck Leads to immigrant Stash House

A fatal wreck that killed an illegal immigrant led authorities to a Mission stash house and criminal charges for suspected smugglers.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department officials told Action 4 News that a pickup truck full of illegal immigrants crashed just north of San Manuel while trying to outrun Border Patrol agents Wednesday morning.

One immigrant was reported killed in the accident while others fled the scene.

The fatal wreck led investigators to a stash house north of Mission where authorities found 15 illegal immigrant inside.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the immigrants from the accident were housed in the home prior to the crash.
