Immigration Not Slowed Down By Recession
Foreign-born less educated now than in the past, probably taking jobs away from native-born Americans

Some myths about the nation's immigration population were dispelled and some surprises emerged from an analysis of the March 2005 Current Population Survey (CPS), collected by the U.S. Census Bureau.
It's commonly believed that the economic slowdown that began in 2000 retarded the flow of immigration. Not true. The recession and/or 9/11 probably did not slow the rate down, but if it did a trickle, immigration flow has never been higher than in the past 5 years.
Every decade, the Bureau conducts a census of the U.S. population, trying to count everyone as required by the U.S. Constitution. But in the mid-decades, the Bureau uses a survey, the CPS, to update the census. Before the Bureau could publish its March 2005 analysis and results, Steven A. Camaroto, the Director of Research of the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), "beat them to it," as he put it, focusing exclusively on immigration matters, and wrote a report that is available online .
Dr. Camaroto summarized his findings at Washington's National Press Club on Monday, December 12. Here are three key findings:

The repatriation of American trained youth is gong to be a blessing for Latin America.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I thought the economy was doing great, according to all the critters; though my savings account never correlated with those claims?
