SAN DIEGO—A man suspected of crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally has been rescued from a storm drain in the Tijuana River Valley and taken to a hospital with serious head trauma.
Border Patrol agents found six suspected illegal immigrants in the storm drain early Wednesday and decided to searched further down the channel.

San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque says rescuers found the man at the bottom of the 30-foot-deep pipe.

Border Patrol Agent Jerry Conlin said authorities suspect the injured man was left for dead by the suspected illegal immigrants. They were detained for questioning.
