Daughter arrested in father's stabbing death

A woman has been arrested and charged with stabbing her father to death.

Police found 42-year-old Miguel Flores lying dead in the grass near his estranged wife's west Houston apartment at 12735 Whittington about 9 p.m. Monday.

It was later determined that he had been stabbed three times by his daughter, Ana Flores, 20.

"Apparently he (Miguel Flores) had a habit of watching the family," said Sgt. John Shirley with HPD homicide.

After a heated exchange, Ana Flores first stabbed her father about 8:55 p.m., Shirley said. He was able to yell up to the apartment, saying he had been stabbed and asking his estranged wife to call an ambulance, Shirley said.

Miguel Flores then walked around the Whittfield Apartments, wounded.

Minutes later, Ana Flores again found her father and stabbed him twice more with the folding knife, Shirley said.

A Crime Stoppers tip called in Tuesday first cast suspicion on the victim's daughter, who later confessed, officials said.

Ana Flores, an illegal immigrant, remains in the Harris County Jail, charged with murder, Shirley said.
