INS rumor keeps immigration rally small

DORAVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A rally to support passage of immigration reform in Congress drew an estimated one-thousand illegal immigrants to the Plaza Fiesta in Doraville.

Organizers had hoped up to ten-thousand people would attend the rally last night. They say rumors that immigration officials were in the area kept the crowd smaller.

Former Mexican Consul General Teodoro Maus led the candlelight vigil and petition drive. He says lawmakers in Washington, DC, need to be enlightened on how vital it is to approve a reform package that will take into account people and not numbers.

Maus says amnesty is morally right because illegal immigrants have earned through hard work, honesty and commitment to the United States.

The reform bill, which has the backing of President Bush, would tighten border security, create a temporary guest worker program and initiate a process for millions of undocumented workers already in the U.S. to become legal residents.

The Senate could resume debate on the legislation later this week. A final vote is expected by July Fourth.

A little less in your face approach than last year. I wonder how the Americans who had their ID's and SSN's stolen at Portland's Del Monte plant feel about their honesty?

I will give them one thing, they are committed.

Committed to doing whatever it takes to take an American's job; steal ID, forge documents, drive without a license, drive without insurance, lie about their names, etc.

They're also committed to wrecking our culture, disrespecting our language and an undying allegiance to third world countries that encourage them to leave.

How's that for committment?

This guy is full of crap "these people have earned through hard work and HONESTY to become legal.

"A reform package that will talk about people and not numbers" are they crazy, well I guess they are !
