I.D. Made In Alleged Murder Suicide Case In Fullerton

FULLERTON, August 30, 2006 - The man accused of murdering a 12-year-old Fullerton girl before committing suicide has been identified as Damian Camillo Flores, 40.

Confirmation of Flores' name was made late this morning by the Orange County Coroner's Office following checks with Cal ID, a statewide identification system used by law enforcement.

Flores, who died of self-inflicted stab wounds, had rented a room in victim's family home at 3606 W. Valencia Drive for a number of years. He was former coworker of the murder victim's father.

The murder victim was identified as Janette Jimenez, 12. According to the Coroner's Office, she died of multiple stab wounds.

Fullerton Police Sgt. Linda King said the bodies were discovered at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the girl's father, Alberto Jimenez, who arrived home to find the unconscious body of his daughter inside the house. Jimenez called the Fire Department, but the girl was dead when the paramedics arrived.

Police officers responding on the call forced their way into a locked room in another part of the house and found Flores, who was also dead.

King said a motive has not yet been determined in the case, adding detectives "are looking at all possible causes." At the stipulation of the Coroner's Office, investigators would not comment on whether the girl had been sexually assaulted.

The girl's mother, Clementina Arcelo Jimenez, was not home at the time of the murder or the discovery of the bodies. The investigation is continuing.

This article doesn't say whether or not the killer was illegal, but ....

People should really think before they so willingly open their doors to "friends" to stay in their houses with their children! It's all well and good to be a good Samaritan, sometimes though I think we are way to gullible and good hearted when we should be thinking of our children who depend on us to keep them safe! It makes me sad to think this father had to learn this lesson in such a terrible way, he will never forgive himself for what happened to his daughter.
Build the dam fence post haste!
