Jesus Murrieta-Perez was sentenced to 87 months in jail this past May by a U.S. district judge for drug trafficking, but his timetable for release has now changed. Perez was ordered to spend ten additional months in prison after he tried to escape from the San Luis Detention Center last year. Officials say he tried to flee from the detention center by impersonating another inmate; a plan that was later foiled by Border Patrol agents.

Perez was initially taken into custody in April of 2008 when border authorities discovered 14 wrapped packages of meth in his car. He was placed under arrest at the San Luis Port of Entry.
