Governor Cites Case of Alleged Rape by Illegal Immigrant Marco Riz

Governor Donald L. Carcieri today decried the City of Providence's continued refusal to work with Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to prevent illegal immigrants from committing reprehensible crimes against Rhode Island citizens. The Governor said that the recent arrest of Marco Riz, an illegal immigrant who had been ordered deported, is a sad but vivid example of why he issued his Executive Order on illegal immigration.

“It is obvious that Mayor Cicilline and the Chief of Police Dean Esserman are following through with their decision not to support my Executive Order on illegal immigration.â€

IMO non-enforcement of the law makes them accessories to the crime.

Maybe they will change their tune when the victims of criminal acts committed by illegals begin filing dereliction of duty and wrongful death suits against the key players in R.I. who are blatantly ignoring an Executive Order and refusing to work with ICE.

Once they start getting hit in the wallet for the actions of their pro-illegal officials, I'm quite sure that the citizens of R.I. will make their feelings known loud and clear.

I am sending out emails and will make calls this is great news.

I agree the family needs to sue the Mayor, the Police Chief and the city as a whole. I sure would.

Carcieri asked local police departments to take similar steps, but Providence Police Chief Dean Esserman refused. He said the governor's order could deter illegal immigrants who witness or are victimized by crime from contacting police.

Looks like the Chief is putting the illegal aliens above the safety of US citizens and legal immigrants in this community. Hope he gets slammed with major lawsuits for dereliction of duty.

I agree SOS. In fact, I wish I had the emails to those two and tell them, I would gladly give to a legal fund for the family to sue the city.
