Immigration Update: Judicial Watch Expands Nationwide Campaign Against Illegal Immigration

As regular readers of the Weekly Update, you are no doubt aware of Judicial Watch’s commitment to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws. We have launched a number of investigations and lawsuits: http://www.judicialwatch.org/immigration.shtml across the country related to sanctuary policies that worsen the illegal immigration crisis, while providing a safe haven for illegal alien criminals. In the last two weeks, we’ve expanded our campaign yet again.

Here are just a few highlights:

• Over the last few weeks, I’ve covered the story of Jamiel Shaw, the high school athlete in the Los Angeles area who was murdered by an illegal alien gang member:
http://www.latimes.com/news/printeditio ... 1309.story The illegal alien, Pedro Espinoza, had been in jail the day before the incident without anyone questioning his legal status. Well, Judicial Watch recently launched an investigation of Culver City’s police policies:

• Like many local communities, the City of Vienna, Virginia is experiencing problems with illegal alien crime, specifically that caused by day laborers soliciting work at a shopping center in the middle of town. Judicial Watch recently sent a proposal letter:

Letter.pdf on behalf of the Vienna Citizens Group, educating the town’s mayor on law enforcement approaches he might like to take in addressing the problems -- including enrolling his local police officers in a federal training program in illegal immigration enforcement techniques, known as 287(g).

• On April 14th, I sent a letter to the Mayor of Mountain View, California, in opposition to the city’s decision to use taxpayer funds to support the Day Worker Center of Mountain View, which helps illegal aliens find jobs:
http://www.judicialwatch.org/archive/20 ... 4Apr08.pdf (The city also has a plan to provide taxpayer funds to a non-profit to purchase property for the center.) As you may recall, our successful campaign to shut down the Town of Herndon, Virginia’s day labor site began with a similar letter. Hopefully, the mayor will see the error of his ways and stop using taxpayer funds to subsidize illegal activity without Judicia l Watch having to take legal action.
