U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector re-arrested two illegal aliens early Sunday evening after an hour-long search that covered several Foothills neighborhoods and involved several agents, sheriff deputies and an agency helicopter.

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Chris Van Wagenen, of the Yuma Sector Communications Division, said that at about 5 p.m., an agent attempted to apprehend two illegal aliens in the vicinity of Foothills Boulevard and City 40th Street.

However, while the agent was taking them into custody, they both broke free and fled the scene, Van Wagenen said. Since the escape happened in a residential neighborhood, the agent called for assistance, with deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff's Office and other agents in the area responding.
