Community colleges restrict illegal immigrants

The state’s community college system, in a reversal of a November policy decision, will no longer admit illegal immigrants into degree programs, system officials said Tuesday.

The action stems from advice received in a May 6 letter from N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper’s office.

System officials asked Cooper’s office to review the legality of a November decision to admit illegal immigrants into state community colleges.
