AZ-Arpaio, ICE at odds over changes to immigration enforceme

Arpaio, ICE at odds over changes to immigration enforcement by Mike Sunnicks

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is batting with the federal government over a change in immigration law enforcement polices. Arpaio said MCSO had to release three illegal immigrants arrested during a recent crime sweep in Mesa and the East Valley because of new directives by the Immigration & Customs Enforcement.

Arpaio's officers arrested 48 people during the sweep, but the Sheriff said three of them who turned out to be undocumented workers, were released because of new ICE polices that say not to process some illegals without criminal records.

Arpaio said he was told by ICE the new policy would not go into effect for a couple of months, but according the the sheriff, it appears the change already could be in affect.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said earlier this month that ICE would revise immigration pacts with local police that allow officers to arrest and process illegal immigrants. Napoltiano and the Barack Obama adminstration want immigration raids conducted by local police to focus on serious criminals rather than rounding up illegal aliens.

Arpaio said the new ICE policies will weaken enforcement efforts, including his raids of businesses suspected of employing undocumented workers. DHS told the East Valley Tribune newspaper that it was the MCSO that decided to release the three and not the federal agency. The Sheriff disagrees.

    Barry hates America

Barry is trying to destroy America that's why he's pretending to enforce the laws, instead he is letting them come into our country and dumping the financial burden on us.

So this is why BP Agent Rosas died. Murdered by illegal "terrorists" who may or may not have criminal records.

The "new" ICE policies protect illegal "terrorists" who have no "known" criminal record but once they commit a crime, it's okay to deport?!

There's a flood gate welcome mat to everyone in S.A. Come one and come all, commit felony crimes and you are safe unless we can find your real ID and name and country to prove you did something like a crime before. But, hey, if we can't find anything (which we won't) feel free to plunder America and her citizens at will!

This policy is reactive to protect "terrorists" who invade this country instead of being proactive to protect legal citizens. RIP to all those who have been and will be victims of this insanity.

These illegal aliens may have criminal pasts or records yet unknown to the Federal government of the United States. They use aliases, so how can the federal government be sure that they are who they proclaim?

The vocal opposition to the 287g is primarily composed of voters for Barack Obama. Open borders, the ACLU, La Raza, the SPLC, and of course the millions of illegal aliens have made, and do still make, many false claims against the 287g.

You're right, I suspect many illegals get a free pass where their criminal history is involved. Furthermore, there is no way the feds are going to make me believe they have access to the fingerprints of every illegal that committed a crime in another country.

Someone isn't telling the truth and don't believe it's Sheriff Joe.
