Letter: Don’t subsidize college for illegal immigrants
Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Legislation to allow illegal aliens to receive in-state tuition benefits at Massachusetts state colleges is currently being debated in the Massachusetts House. H.R. 1230, if approved, would force taxpayers of Newton and the rest of the state to subsidize a college education for illegal immigrants. This bill is an insult to local residents, because their children would be denied entry into these schools to allow slots for illegal aliens.
The Legislature seems to find money to subsidize illegal aliens’ college education while it will not fulfill the will of the voters who approved the referendum to roll back the state income tax to 5 percent in 2000.
