Immigrant rights groups want probe of SoCal agents

Immigrant rights groups want probe of SoCal agents

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Immigrant rights advocates in Riverside want the Department of Homeland Security to investigate a series of arrests by Border Patrol agents made under what they called "vigilante-style" conditions.

Advocates said Thursday they will send a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to request a probe of arrest practices by Riverside agents over the last nine months.

Advocates have questioned dozens of arrests, including an incident last month when an agent pulled a man's wallet from his pocket and arrested him when he refused to speak.

The Riverside station has faced scrutiny in recent months after agents complained they were assigned arrest quotas.

Border Patrol management said agents were not forced to meet quotas and ordered an internal probe in February. No results have been made public.

    What's the question?

I'm assuming that the wallet was removed by the agents during the course of a pat down if he was being detained? That's SOP for law enforcement.

And sorry, but the worst advice they ever gave latinos....both illegal and legal immigrants as well as native born......was to refuse to speak in order to try and prevent law enforcement from discerning the difference between the two.

That can, and will, get you hauled off to jail until they can find out who you are, etc.

That happened to a lady who lives here right after they started that crap. She is a legal resident but was all Ms. Pro-Illegal because her parents and siblings are all illegally here. She tried that little bit of advice when she and her husband were stopped.

And promptly ended up in jail until they confirmed her identity and her legal presence in this country.

That little stunt may have also compromised her immigration status.

Fortunately though, it seems that alot of illegal aliens and immigrants ARE catching on to just how damaging these so called "advocates" are to them.

This goes in that category with the prisoner's screaming about hand cuffs chafing their wrists after they tried to knife the warden.

Our own civil liberties are going to bury us if we don't draw a line in the sand and say, "We are Americans. You are not. Our constitution does NOT protect You!"
