HUNTER PRESS CONFERENCE

Columbia, SC – Presidential candidate and U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA), ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, will hold a press conference today at the South Carolina State Capitol Building to discuss reports that a merger between 3Com and Chinese company Huawei would threaten U.S. national security. Hunter will once again call on former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney to use his influence as founder of Bain Capital, which maintains a strategic partnership with Huawei, to terminate the proposed merger.

The Washington Times reported today that U.S. intelligence agencies informed the CFIUS review committee, responsible for examining proposed foreign investment transactions, that a merger between 3Com and Huawei would threaten America's national security. As a U.S. defense contracting company, 3Com presently performs vital cyber-security work for the Department of Defense.

Press are encouraged to contact Gary Becks at (619) 334-1655 or Tonya Hendricks at (864) 905-8152 to arrange alternate interviews or for additional information.
