Lou Dobbs Tonight
Tuesday July 8, 2008

Tonight, we’ll have the latest on the salmonella outbreak that
has made thousands of Americans sick while the incompetent Food
and Drug Administration continues to bumble about, looking here
and there for the source (with zero success) and maligning
whole industries along the way. Plus:

* Using a fake social security card to obtain a job may not be
illegal, according to an activist federal judge in Chattanooga.
The judge has suggested that social security cards are not
technically considered a form of identification; therefore,
illegal aliens who use them can not be prosecuted under false
identification laws.

* The housing crisis rages on and Wall Street seems to be
losing confidence that the market will rebound any time soon.
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae took a beating on Wall Street
yesterday after an analyst suggested they world need to raise
billions of dollars to cover larger-than-expected losses.
Meanwhile, home sales are catastrophic lows.

* Last month, the Government Accountability Office found that
the Air Force had made numerous errors in giving a major
contract for refueling tankers to a European group partnered
with Northrop Grumman, instead of U.S.-based Boeing. The GAO
recommended the Pentagon re-open the bidding process and gave
it 60 days to respond to the report. But the Defense Department
has done nothing, and members of Congress are taking notice.

* Sens. McCain and Obama are fiercely courting the Latino vote.
Last month they spoke to the National Association of Latino
Elected and Appointed Officials; today it’s the League of
United Latin American Citizens’ national convention; and this
weekend they’re set to address the National Council of La Raza,
one of the most radical socioethnocentric interest groups in
the country.
