Ivan Hernandez-Olvera, 28, of Tempe was found guilty of first-degree murder in Maricopa County Superior Court on Thursday, according to information in a release issued by the county attorney’s office. Hernandez-Olvera and his girlfriend, Felicia Alarcorn, 22, were fighting while riding in a car together on Nov. 17, 2007, moments before he pulled over the car on Warner Road near Price Road and shot Alarcorn multiple times, according to Chandler police. Witnesses saw Hernandez-Olvera pull the car over and the pair arguing behind the car before he pulled out a gun and shot the woman. Authorities believe Hernandez-Olvera was trying to flee to Mexico when he and another man were apprehended during a brief foot chase by police and border patrol agents the day after the shooting. A 9 mm handgun was found inside his car. Story 1 Story 2
