31 Aliens Arrested En Route to Melon Field
(Monday, September 22, 2008)
Blythe, Calif. – Border Patrol agents assigned to Blythe Station arrested 31 illegal aliens early Friday morning. They were found on two agricultural labor buses.
On September 19, at about 6:20 a.m., agents working traffic operations near Blythe, Calif., observed two agricultural labor buses traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 towards an Arizona border commercial inspection station. As the buses parked at the state inspection station, agents approached and performed immigration inspections on the occupants. Thirty-one of the 39 occupants were found to be undocumented aliens illegally present in the United States.
The aliens, all citizens and nationals of Mexico, were taken into custody and transported to the Blythe Border Patrol Station where they were processed for removal. Two of the subjects had been previously ordered removed from the United States by an immigration judge. They were prosecuted for illegal entry and had their prior orders of removal reinstated. Five of the subjects had prior criminal histories and were prosecuted for illegal entry and presented with a Notice to Appear. One alien had an outstanding warrant from the Riverside Sheriff’s Office for a weapon violation and was turned over to them on an immigration detainer.
The aliens were in route to Wenden, Ariz., to work in the melon fields.
