Border Patrol Agent Shot Near Laredo

Border Patrol Agent Shot Near Laredo

A Lubbock area man is in federal custody accused of shooting a border patrol agent near Laredo on Wednesday.
21-year old Jordan Davidson of Ransom Canyon sparked an international man hunt after firing on the agent and crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico. He was captured less than 24 hours later, but why was he on the border with a gun?

There is nothing but questions right now surrounding Jordan Davidson. We know where he was found, why he was arrested and what charges he could face. But as for why he was at the border with a gun and why he would fire on a border patrol agent when he wasn`t committing any crimes, those are questions that still need answers.

U.S. border patrol agents usually spend time stopping illegal aliens from entering the country not protecting themselves from Americans. But that was the case on Wednesday. Davidson was on the banks of the river hundreds of miles from home and with no apparent reason to be there.

While there, he tripped a security sensor, prompting border patrol agents to respond. Agent Jesus Aguilar was first on the scene. He approached Davidson and was unprepared for what came next.

"Mr. Davidson drew a weapon and fired on the agent. Gunshots were exchanged and Mr. Davidson escaped" says Border Patrol Agent Carlos Carillo.

Davidson crossed the border looking for a place to hide out in Mexico, but he wasn`t on the run for long. The borer patrol, the FBI, National Guard, Laredo police and Mexican agencies combined forces to capture Davidson. He was found a short time later in the town of Nuevo Laredo by the municipal police.

"Within 15 hours of the shooting this man was captured despite escaping into a foreign country" says Carillo.

The border patrol found Davidson’s car near the scene of the shooting. Also there were no signs of drugs or alien smuggling and nothing to suggest Davidson ever intended to commit a crime. But even so, he shot a federal agent when approached. As for what drove him to shoot and why he was there to begin with, those are the questions authorities want answers to.

"He`ll have his day in court. He will be arraigned and he can answer what he was doing down there and why he fired on our officer" says Carillo.

Davidson is expected to be arraigned Friday. He could face any number of charges but at the very least he will be facing a charge of firing on a federal officer. As for Officer Aguilar, he was taken to Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio and is in good condition.

Attention Johnny Sutton: Here's another BP agent for you to prosecute. Make sure you get a harsher penalty for this agent and destroy his life, simply because he did nothing but his job.

Maybe US Attorney Sutton will charge the agent with 'unauthorized interception of a bullet'.

    You can DO IT, Johnny!!!

    Pinestraw, good one!
I think that would only apply though if someone was shot in the bucket.

    Re: Davidson

I think that Mr. Davidson was defending our border. many young Americans are so angry about illegal aliens invaden our country that they want to do some thing about it. I wont be surprise if a war will develop about this issue. and the ones to blame will be our politicians that never took this issue serious.
The future of our country depends on us, Take responsibility and do not blame any one. We are a product of our own creation.
