Border Patrol agents in southwestern Arizona have seized more than 240 pounds of marijuana dropped from an ultralight aircraft before it headed back across the border to Mexico.

The agency said Tuesday that they were notified of a possibly ultralight incursion by the Air & Marine Operations Center in Riverside, Calif., on Monday.

Agents from the Border Patrol's Yuma station began searching an area east of the San Luis port of entry and found 14 bundles of marijuana in a field.

The agency says the pot weighed about 244 pounds and is worth about $122,000. The drugs were turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Ultralights, which look like motorized hang gliders, began appearing in Arizona three years ago and rarely land. Pilots simply drop bundles of drugs to be picked up later by others in smuggling organizations.
