Immigration groups, state to meet in Springfield
February 15, 2009
BOSTON—Another state-sponsored town hall-style meeting on immigration reform is scheduled for this week.

A coalition of immigrant groups and the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants will meet Wednesday in Springfield, Mass. as part of Gov. Deval Patrick's effort to seek public comment before the coalition submits recommendations on reforms.

The meeting comes after Patrick created in June the "New Americans Agenda" initiative to come up with policy recommendations on immigration.

The coalition has already taken public comment in four different locations around the state and has drawn dozens of people.

The last scheduled meeting after Springfield will take place in March in Fitchburg, Mass.
