Sodus, NY-- A man is being detained by immigration authorities after an investigation following his arrest in the Village of Sodus for allegedly driving while intoxicated showed that he entered the United State illegally.

State police stopped a vehicle driven by Luis E. Romo, 44, of Mexico, at 2:26 a.m. Sunday on Main Street in the village because it failed to stop for a red light.

Troopers also accused Romo of driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated while having a blood alcohol content of greater than 0.08 percent, as well as other vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in the Village of Sodus Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

The U.S. Border Patrol was contacted after an investigation showed Romo had allegedly entered the U.S. illegally. An order was issued to hold Romo until he is processed by immigration officials.
