Rubio Backs English as Official Language

Rubio Backs English as Official Language

    Saturday, 18 Sep 2010 02:27 PM

U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio says he believes English should be declared the official language of the United States. Rubio, a Republican, stated his position on the issue Friday night in a debate that aired on Univision, the Spanish-language network. Rubio's rivals for one of Florida's two Senate seats, Democrat Kendrick Meek and independent Gov. Charlie Crist, also particpated in the one-hour debate.

Immigration was a key topic in the debate, according to the Palm Beach Post, and Rubio said America's immgration laws should be modernized only after the U.S.-Mexico border is secured and new policies related to employment verification can be implemented.

Crist and Meek both said thay oppose making English the official language of the United States, and they both voiced support for finding a way to enable all illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens.

Just forwarded this to my Mother and Brother who reside in Bradenton, urging them to vote for Rubio. IMO the other 2 don't belong in MY Congress. YOU PANDER, YOU LOSE!

I don't trust Rubio at all. He keeps changing his tune on a regular basis. When he was speaker of the house he and other fellow Cuban Americans made sure a tougher law that was being proposed was not even introduced. That law involved making it harder for illegals to be able to be employed in the state as well as other laws that would make it less desirable for them to live in Florida. In fact Rubio and cohorts bragged in an article that was published in the Miami Herald about how they prevented the bill from even being discussed.

Immigration was a key topic in the debate, according to the Palm Beach Post, and Rubio said America's immgration laws should be modernized, (code words for amnesty )only after the U.S.-Mexico border is secured and new policies related to employment verification can be implemented.
I liked Marco Rubio at first, but then I changed my mind.......

So Rubio is for 'a path to citizenship' for 20,000,000 million illegal aliens, and for secure borders. He says we must secure our borders first. Sorry, but it sounds like typical RINO amnesty code words to me.

Marco Rubio does not like what Governor Brewer is doing in Arizona to try and save the citizens from the constant assauts on them by illegal aliens. It seems that Rubio is more concerned about what people might think if a law officer asked them for their ID than he is about the safety of the citizens.

What Rubio said on April 27 in West Miami

    http://www.politifact.com/florida/state ... ation-law/

"I think the law has potential unintended consequences and it's one of the reasons why I think immigration needs to be a federal issue, not a state one.'

"Everyone is concerned with the prospect of the reasonable suspicious provisions where individuals could be pulled over because someone suspects they may not be legal in this country. I think over time people will grow uncomfortable with that ... I've always said I think the ultimate solution is to create a technologically based system where employers can verify the eligibility of the folks they are employing."

When Rubio was asked specifically about immigrants being required to produce documents at a moment's notice, the son of Cuban exiles said, according to the Miami Herald, "That's not really something that Americans are comfortable with, the notion of a police state.''

What Rubio said on Fox News April 30

"I don't believe that law is the best answer to that problem."

Later, Rubio said, "There are portions of the law that over time may lead to unintended consequences."

    Article continues~~~
Ron Paul in 2011 "[...]no amnesty should be granted. Maybe a 'green card' with an asterisk should be issued[...]a much better option than deportation."

Perhaps our politicans need to be modernized promising to adhere to US law and not undermine it.

EVERY BODY IS WANTING TO CHANGE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS IN ORDER TO SUITE THEIR OWN CAUSE. THIS IS NOTHING BUT A LOT OF BS OUR LAWS DON'T NEED TO BE CHANGED AT ALL, THEY JUST NEED TO BE ENFORCED. WHY DON'T MEXICO CHANGE THEIR LAWS FOR THE BETTER IN THAT CESSPOOL A MEXICAN CITIZEN CAN ARREST A PERSON IF THEY SUSPECT THAT THEY ARE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY. AND HERE IN THE U.S, MEXICO WHICH HAS NO RIGHT AT ALL, ARE SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THE STATE OF ARIZONA FOR BASICALLY THE SAME THING. THIS HAS GOT TO END, AND IT NEEDS TO END NOW. OUR LAWS SHOULD REMAIN JUST AS THE FOUNDING FATHERS MEANT FOR THEM TO, THE WAY THEY LEFT THEM AND NOT THE WAY MEXICO AND RUBIO WANT THEM TO BE FOR THEIR BENEFIT

I agree it is some form of amnesty. Many Cubans who came here from the 80's on want amnesty and look at it as that fellow Hispanics are being picked on and that they need to side with them. I seen it written in the comments in the Miami Herald where Cubans who were against illegals were being scolded by those who are for it. Cuban politicians are notorious for only caring what is best for fellow Cubans and Hispanics and not for the rest of the voters. I have witnessed it myself when I had to deal with Mel Martinez before he retired as well as what is going on in Miami Dade County and the City of Miami. Both the city and county are giving millions towards a Marlins ballpark in Little Havana. A deal no one in their right mind would approve as the Marlins refused to show their books. The City of Miami is on the verge of bankruptcy and Miami Dade County is in really bad financial shape as well.
