Smallish man attacks women through car windows, police say
Associated Press
BROWNSVILLE, Texas - A Mexican national remained on the loose after raping one woman and assaulting another by slipping through their car windows and threatening them with a machete, police said.
Juan Cruz-Ovilla, 22, used his small stature to get through the windows in separate incidents at the same gas station last month, police said. A third complaint was made against him, and officials said they believe he may have approached more women.
"Both women were by themselves," Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique said. "They are lone victims who are unsuspecting."
Police launched a search with tracking dogs last week but couldn't locate Cruz-Ovilla. They continued looking Tuesday and received multiple sighting reports of the suspect, who uses several aliases.
Officials said previous charges of aggravated assault had been filed against Cruz-Ovilla, who was arrested in the past for unknown offenses and deported to Mexico.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

A machete no less.......... I mean seriously.....did they just open the jails and shoo these creeps over the border or was there some really bad gene mutation to specifically this age group of Mexican men? So many are just so vile and coldheartedly violent.

Marshals also searching for suspected rapist
Unknown federal charges pending against wanted man
By LAURA B. MARTINEZ
The Brownsville Herald
August 22, 2006 — A man sought by Brownsville police for assaulting two women here is also wanted by the U.S. Marshals.
The Brownsville Herald learned that the Marshal service has issued a federal warrant for Juan Cruz-Ovilla, 22, wanted by local police for aggravated sexual assault and assault in connection with attacks on two women. The alleged attacks took place at a gas station on FM 802, at which a man jumped through open car windows and threatened the women drivers with a machete.
The charge on the federal warrant for Cruz-Ovilla is unknown. The U.S. Marshals Office did not return phone calls seeking comment for this article.
Police believe Cruz-Ovilla hails from Honduras and may still be in the area or in nearby Mexico. The last reported sighting of the rape suspect happened Aug. 13 at a local housing development.
Brownsville Police Lt. James Paschall said Monday he fears the suspect has fled as no sightings have been reported in a week.
“We are exploring all avenues whether he is in Brownsville, Mexico or out of state,” Paschall said.
Cruz-Ovilla was last reported as surfacing Aug. 12 and 13 at the Poinsettia Housing Development.
He was reported as hanging around Oak and Ash streets in the housing development. A 21-year-old tenant there told police he approached her for three nights and spoke with her, calling himself Cruz.
Search dogs were used to sweep the Poinsettia Housing units, including empty homes. The search did not yield the suspect.
Brownsville police have combed Brownsville and Matamoros. They received unconfirmed reports that Cruz-Ovilla was seen panhandling at the Mercado Juarez in Matamoros. Another recent report placed the suspect in the Pharr area. Neither lead panned out.

US Marshals Join Search for Accused Rapist
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 Posted: 12:33 PM
BROWNSVILLE - US marshals join the search for a man accused of robbery and rape.
A federal judge has issued an arrest warrant for Juan Cruz. Brownsville police have been searching for Cruz, after he reportedly raped one woman and assaulted two others at a Circle K store in July.
Cruz is an illegal immigrant. Over the last two years, he's been arrested twice for illegal re-entry.
Last year, he was sentenced to 18 months in jail and three years probation. Authorities say he served his time and was deported.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 learned a federal judge issued a warrant last week for his arrest on six probation violations.
Court documents state Cruz committed five crimes and re-entered the country, which are all violations of his probation.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
