Report: Immigrants Have Poor English Skills

The controversy over illegal immigration and ‘Sanctuary City’ policies shows no signs of letting up, and a new report only seems to add fuel to the fire.
According to the Migration Policy Institute, half of the 41.3 million immigrants in the U.S. speak English less than 'very well.' William Gheen with ALIPAC told KTRH immigrants just don't seem to want to assimilate. “Every company they call doesn’t require them to speak English. They are being catered to.”
“There is no desire to integrate. Even the White House is broadcasting messages saying it’s not necessary for illegals or immigrants to integrate,” Gheen explained.
But immigration analyst Ruben Navarrette told KTRH this is something that will change over time.
“My immigrant grandfather one hundred years ago only spoke Spanish when he came to the United States. Two generations later I speak predominantly English and my Spanish is not so good,” Navarrette said.
Texas has 14 percent of those immigrants that have trouble with English, trailing only California at 19%.

Problem is when you talk to the spanish immigrants and illegals they all say when asked to speak English that their language is their culture. Many of them refuse to use English or they pretend they don't know it.

No one should be surprised. With all the spanish laguage television, radio, newspapers, and dual languages on so many products, why would any of them try and learn English? This country has made everything so easy for them to not assimilate. Let's not forget the cries of racism as soon as people start talking about making English the official language.
