Circle K accepting Pesos in Albuquerque

I walked into a Circle K on my way home last night. There was a sign ( in Spanish) on the counter stating that the store would now accept pesos for payment of goods purchased. I asked the clerk when that began and he just became hostile - so, I smiled and reminded him that we lived in the USA, NOT Mexico. However, I was polite and did not force a confontation with him. The next day I started checking on where I could find English pounds (which are worth 2 American dollars.) As soon as I can convert my American dollars for the English pound, I am going to the same K-Mart store and insist that they accept the pound in lieu of the dollar. Let's see what happens.
