    Navarette/Buchanan

Believe this was a reader's comment but worth posting:

    http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/opinions/ci_4543164

Ruben Navarrette blasts Pat Buchanan for playing the race card in the national debate about illegal immigration ("Buchanan hinders illegal immigration discourse," Sept. 28th).

"Now Buchanan is warning us that excessive immigration is wrecking the United States," he writes. "It's not just those who come here illegally that worry him." He also wants to limit legal immigration, especially from Mexico.

Navarrette dismisses Buchanan's claim that Mexican government wants to reclaim the American Southwest, which was lost in the Mexican War of 1846-48.

Can Ruben Navarrette deny a 1997 proclamation by Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, who stated, "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders" (National Council of La Raza; July 23, 1997)?

Can Navarrette dismiss a claim by Mario Obledo, co-founder of the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), that "California is going to be a Hispanic state and anyone who doesn't like it should leave. We are going to take over all of the political institutions in California" (KIEV Radio; June 16, 199?

Can he refute a statement by Mexican Consul-General Jose Angel

Pescador Osuna, who summed up a not-so-secret agenda: "We are practicing la Reconquista in California" (Southwestern University School of Law; Feb. 6, 199.
And what does Ruben Navarrette have to say about MECHA, the Chicano student group that has chapters on most high school and college campuses (including Pasadena City College) and makes no secret of its goal to return California to Mexico?

Navarrette clearly supports this DEFACTO DISCRIMINATION in favor of Latinos/Mexicans....

he used to talk out of both sides of his mouth, but since his move to San Diego he has dropped all pretense.... but still appears in public as if he were some reasonable guy who simply does not understand why the majority in the US can be against this invasion.... these folks are forcing themselves on us and keep telling us that we need them, then throw all kinds of traditional American slogans at us as if to make us feel guilty about not wanting their forced friendship and assistance...
    ...by a nose!

    Pinocchionose,
I'm just curious, do you know when Navarette moved to San Diego? And from where?

If I had to guess, he probably comes from Mexico. I'm not positive, but I have a hunch, anyone else?

Here's a link from Vdare about him on English and illegal immigration. If you look under Professional Token Hispanic in red it gives a little bit of his biography.

Ruben Navarrette is the most irritating of all columnists. I absolutely despise this man.

Certainly it is Navarette who is playing the race card while at the same time creating a "race" where there is none for his purposes.

La Raza AKA The Race represents Latinos, Hispanics, and among those Mexicans. None of these are a "race" "Everything for the race" they say, but when it's all said and done, nobody has a claim to anything.

I think that the one playing the race card is Navarrette, Mexican is a nationality, not a race.

They invented their own race, basically they feel the Mestizos are a new race. One Mexican guy actually wrote a book called "The Cosmic Race". He says the mixing of the Spanish with Mexican Indians resulted in a new superior race created by God. That is actually what they believe! This is also why the Mexican Mestizos look down on full blooded Mexican Indians and treat them so badly.

    TimBinh,

I hadn't heard about the new Super Race yet.

Sounds a little like the "R" word to me. Could it be the pot calling the kettle black? Mexicans are from Mexico, they are citizens of Mexico and this Mestizo Super Race sounds thing sounds like convenient invention for a more far reaching agenda.
